Here's How To Work From Home Productively

high-performance Mar 17, 2020

Here are your hacks to proactively adjust to moving from an office to your home.

Working from home seems like a dream. The reality is though, if you aren't used to it this can be quite the adjustment.

We have been operating from home offices for some time. So we thought it would be helpful to share five steps that you can take to make this transition as smooth as possible.

STEP 1: MAKE YOUR BED

Simple. Yes. Necessary, also yes. Did you know that you are up to 206.8 percent more likely to be a millionaire if you make your bed? This simple habit will set the tone and productivity for your day. Plus keeping your new work/home space clean is truly vital for success.

STEP 2: GET DRESSED

It's not like you need to get dressed for in-office work. Just change out of your sleeping attire. This makes a massive difference in terms of mindset. It will quickly get you focused on your day and ready for your to-do items.

STEP 3: MANAGE YOUR WORKSPACE

By manage, we mean to select a spot where you are going to work. If you have a home office, even better! If you don't make sure to pick a table area to create your working space. Regardless of the location, keep this space tidy so that you can operate with order and clarity. This makes a world of difference in making this new space successful.

STEP 4: FOLLOW AN AGENDA

Whether it's an agenda, google calendar or a good old list that you use. Keep that routine that you otherwise would for work. Write out your daily objectives, tasks, and deadlines. It's very helpful to time block how long it will take for each task. Setting an alarm will increase the chances of staying on track.

STEP 5: STRUCTURE YOUR DAY

This is a big one. Setting up your daily routine as if you were in the office 100% helps with consistency, results and this entire transition process. That means if you have a coffee, review emails and set tasks in the morning.... then that's going to be the plan at home too. That also means setting work hours, having lunch and drinking your water. These simple steps will effortlessly allow you to excel.
