3 Ways To Shift Your Headspace

mindset Apr 07, 2020

Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed?

Like you have a million things on the go at all times. Like you have a mental note of everything that’s going on but not one plan for how it’s going to happen.

If you have a photographic memory, you are the chosen one. The rest of us are likely not going to remember a million things to take mental notes of.

So here are three ways to declutter your headspace so you can start to take some action.

1 - GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD

Grab a paper and pen then set your timer for 50 minutes. No more and no less. Then write everything you are thinking. The thoughts, the tasks you have to do, your to-do list, grocery list, all of it. You might find you are done writing with 20 minutes to spare. Now start listing that negative self talk that you are telling yourself. Seriously, here is where you want to really get everything out of your head. If you find you still have time then start to picture each room in your house, and any underlying things that need to be decluttered that you've been putting off. The goal here is to give your brain a break and get it all out on paper.

2 - CATEGORIZE AND FREE UP YOUR MENTAL CAPACITY

Now the 50 minutes are through. It feels better, doesn’t it! So now you have a massive list. You are going to review and pull out what actually needs to happen. Time to grab three highlighters. The first colour is for things that need to happen now. The second is for the things that need to be delegated. The final colour is for the things that can be deleted. Those deleted items are our favourite because they are typically the dead weight holding you down that you never needed in your headspace, to begin with.

3 - PRIORITIZE TO INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY

Now that you have this out of your head and onto paper, you are going to want to build your to-do list into a plan. So start writing what needs to happen immediately over the next 30 days and what needs to happen in the next 90. This is the start of your strategic planning. Then build in the steps and deadlines for each task. This helps to clear your space so you can truly focus on your priorities while working as productively as possible.

We promise this tool does absolute WONDERS to declutter your headspace and free up your mental capacity. Give it a try!
